Climate Governance Forum 2026 Event Production
International Climate Councils Network (secretariat hosted at E3G)
One Birdcage Walk, London
Role: Event Producer (3 months)
DisCom produced the second annual Climate Governance Forum, a flagship event of London Climate Action Week 2026 and the largest gathering of the world's climate councils to date with leading thought leaders including Gina McCarthy and former Irish President Mary Robinson.
Context
A half day of plenary sessions and parallel closed-door roundtables at One Birdcage Walk, bringing together 200 climate council members, government officials, researchers and business leaders from across the globe, with a livestream that reached a wider audience beyond the room. Speakers included Gina McCarthy, Mary Robinson and Xiye Bastida, alongside climate council leaders sharing impact stories from Canada, Ukraine, Malta and Chile.
The Challenge:
A small secretariat with an ambitious workplan needed to deliver its biggest event yet, with a global speaker list, an international membership and a livestream, without the team disappearing into it for three months.
A small ICCN secretariat needed to deliver their biggest event yet, a global audience and an international speaker line-up, all while keeping their existing, ambitious work programme moving. They needed a producer who could take on the event end to end and give the team the confidence to deliver alongside their day jobs.
The Work:
A DisCom team of two, working as part of the ICCN and E3G team.
Owning the production end to end across three months, so the secretariat could keep its own workplan moving
Setting up the operating rhythm: bi-weekly then weekly calls, split into programme and logistics so the two workstreams kept moving plus an action log and a project WhatsApp group
Owning the supplier relationships across AV, livestream, photography, the highlights film, catering and badging, and bringing in an external graphic designer for fast turnaround of assets.
Registration, approvals and guest comms on Lu.ma, including a separate online event for the livestream audience, with scheduled blasts doing the guest comms through the week.
Running a plenary and two closed-door breakouts in parallel, with the breakouts invitation-only and confirmed individually by diary invite rather than open registration
A single live agenda URL behind a QR code, on the screens and on the badges, so the programme could move on the day without reprinting anything
The details that decide the guest experience: a speaker room next to the plenary, a well-staffed sign-in desk with back-up, and the team on the door greeting people as they arrived. Queuing time came back Excellent
A structured Keep, Change, Stop debrief across the partner team, written up into a ranked set of priorities for the next edition, plus the highlights film that gives ICCN an asset to use across the year rather than a single day
CGF in numbers
200 in the room, plus a livestream audience beyond it.
Around 30 speakers and moderators across a plenary, two closed-door breakouts and the council dispatches.
Overall rating 4.0 out of 5.
"Liz was fantastic to work with. She's so good at juggling many balls, adapting to challenges and keeping a great attitude throughout that I had real confidence in our ability to deliver the event as a team.”
